The Pros and Cons of Salt Water in Swimming Pools

Saltwater pools require less maintenance than a conventional pool treated with chlorine, as the chlorine generator, which performs the electrolysis, works continuously, and they have a self-cleaning function that does not require constant attention. As we mentioned previously, the chlorine generator converts salt (natural sea salt) into chlorine, ensuring the hygiene of the pool, and also preventing the formation of algae.

But this does not mean that there is no maintenance, just that it is less intense and regular than in conventional pools. The pH of the chlorine generated still needs to be monitored and adjusted, although this is normally a process in which the owner does not intervene.
