If the leak persists even after trying to repair the tap, it is time to replace the old tap with a new one. But how should you do it?

Before starting anything, it is essential to close the meter of the respective installation and then cover the drain hole so as not to lose any parts.

These operations will be carried out with a screwdriver, so you must be careful not to damage the tap. First, you will unscrew the tap’s general nut (the one that holds it on the sink, bathtub or toilet) and unscrew the nut connecting it to the plumbing.

Then lift the faucet cover or head, unscrew the head nut and remove the internal mechanism.

With the mechanism removed, place thread sealing tape around the faucet threads where the hoses will connect. Apply the silicone around the sink hole and where the new finish will be, to prevent infiltration.

If you place the faucet on a delicate surface, such as a stainless steel sink, for example, you will need to add an additional washer to the faucet’s threaded stem.

Now you can install the new tap without forgetting to connect the threaded rod to the supply pipe.

When everything is connected correctly, open the meter and then the tap and check for leaks. If you see drops of water falling, turn off the valves and tighten them a little more. Repeat the process as many times as necessary.

Note : It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when assembling your new faucet, as how and where the rings need to be placed varies depending on the faucet model.
